On Tuesday, January 22nd, Sibley East 7th grade students attended the 15th Annual Youth Frontiers Courage Retreat.  The Courage Retreat is a 5 1/2 hour day, away from school, during which time students connect with each other through participating in many high-energy, fun-filled games and also engage in small group discussions of what it means to have courage.  
The retreat is put on each year by Youth Frontiers. Youth Frontiers’ successful and highly regarded retreats seek to teach students how to incorporate the values of kindness, courage, respect and integrity into their personal and school lives. The organization aims to strengthen core values, confront negative behaviors and enable students to recognize the consequences of their actions.
Bullying prevention is an important focus in every school. As such, Sibley East hosts the retreat each year as a way to address the concerns of bullying. The goal is for each student to commit to one act of courage that they feel will positively improve their life, which, in turn, will positively affect others and their school..
